Request Your Stay
for widows and their families
A Note from Natalie to my Wid-Sister:
First off, let me get out all the phrases you’ve probably heard over and over:
- “I can’t imagine your pain.”
- “Let us know if you need anything.”
- “How are you? How are the kids??? (insert sad face and head tilt)
Yes, we know deep down inside everyone is well-meaning and they’re just showing us they care. But gosh, it gets old, doesn’t it? It’s hard being talked to differently and being known as “that family.”
Broken Halos Haven is a place where you can take a few days and step away from your new life—a life you never planned for or thought would be yours. You’ll be able to escape your home (and all the grief triggers literally waiting around the corners…ugh!), experience new things and make new memories with your kids.
Might I suggest you choose a trusted friend or family member to serve as your coordinator/point person. They should be the one to send out the link for your Grief Getaway Gift Registry, not you. Yes, you’ve probably been told hundreds of times to let people know if you need anything. But that’s hard to do — especially because as a full-fledged, grown-up it’s kind of weird and awkward to ask people for gifts. Am I right? But people want to help and they want to love on you. Give them the opportunity.
And you need it, too. You need to move forward and show your kids that life hasn’t stopped just because Dad isn’t here anymore. You’re not dishonoring your late husband by having fun, trying new things, and making memories. He would want you to go on living!
After you register, we’ll see if we can accommodate your family. If so, you will receive a link to start your Grief Getaway Gift Registry.
Want to visit Broken Halos Haven? Awesome! When you book a stay, you’re helping to offset the costs of running our ministry to widows and their children. Shoot us an email with dates you’d like to stay and we’ll see if the home is available.
